Crimpers offer an easy way of decorating the top edge of any cake covered in sugarpaste (roll-out icing). A great alternative if you do not have the time to make up royal icing and pipe around the cake.
Use straight away when covering the cake while the sugarpaste is soft. Just dip the crimper in icing sugar, place the open crimper on the top edge of the cake and squeeze together, continue all the way around. It's always a good idea to practice a few times on off cuts of icing so you get an even pressure.
