Silver Cake Boards

Silver cake boards come in a range of different thicknesses and widths. Below we have added a guide to help you choose the one best suited for your needs. Please note thickness of board is in brackets.

Cut-edge cards (1.1mm), suitable for gateaux and cost effective base for light sponge cakes.

Single thick cards (2mm), ideal for plaques, small cakes, sponge cakes and gateaux. They are not recommended for rich fruit or cakes with delicate work on.

Hardboard cake boards (4mm), very sturdy boards which do not bend, ideal for use under sponges, rich fruit cakes and when you need thinner boards for stacked cakes.

Drum cake board (12mm),  thick cake drum, suitable for sponge and fruit cakes and recommended for use under heavy cakes and as the bottom tier of a stacked cake or a tiered cake using pillars or separators. They can also be decorated with a complementary ribbon applied with double-sided tape.
